Takes multiple times to read some discs, blue ray and games while some play right away. You can enjoy an unmatched gaming experience from Xbox one. No terrible grinding noise, no errors.ĭo you think I have a faulty disc drive? Or do you think its just certain games that need replacing/reinstalling? Edited Apby ZingZitangĭo you think I have a faulty disc drive? Or do you think its just certain games that need replacing/reinstalling? Now I'm reluctant to get a crappy refurbished Xbox as a replacement from Microsoft, so my question to you is: I've done the complete cold startup multiple times, and while it seems to work sometimes it doesn't work all the time. I've had it fail once on a regular DVD in the last 5 months, and I think once on a Blu Ray movie. The Xbox failed to read Metal Gear Solid Multiple times, and never did successfully read it, it failed on Dead Rising once, and while it didn't fail on Battlefield 4 last night I almost always have to put it in multiple times before I can play. Its much quieter, and not a noise I would necessarily associate with hardware malfunction. Xbox One - Day One Disc Drive broken - YouTube Also, while I get a random grinding-ish noise, its definitely not like you hear in this video: I get no errors, it just doesn't recognize there's a disc in the drive. I have to take the disc out and put it back in multiple times before it finally reads the disc. My first reaction/concern was that my disc drive was broken, so I called Microsoft and set up an advance exchange.īut upon experimenting more with my Xbox, I'm not sure that was the right course of action. I have about 7 physical games for my Xbox one, and out of those 7 my Xbox consistently fails to read the discs of Metal Gear Solid and Battlefield 4. So I want to ask for opinions and advice. I know there are other topics about disc drive issues here, but mine seems to be unique.
